There is a time and place, and a funeral isn't either of them. I don't care about your political affiliation, it shouldn't be about politics it is about celebrating the life of a great woman. Note to people: Don't make a funeral your springboard to the front page of the newspaper.
As I said on one of the related articles, I doubt Coretta was wagging her finger in heaven. Bush and Republicans are historically political enemies of the black civil rights movement. Why not call them out on it? Not to compare the late Ms. King to that nut Cindy Sheehan, but if this was Sheehan's funeral, would it be inappropriate to lash out against Bush? No, because she herself would have approved, and I'm not sure how this is any different.
It's sad that the modern black civil rights movement is led by people that are passing along old history and half truths. A leadership transplant would be a great thing right about now. I wish that MLK was alive today to bring civility and true leadership back into the picture. Instead we have vile and hate being spit out by the left.
I can't imagine a woman who supported peace and equality approving in any way to what happened at her funeral. And that someone would be so audacious as to use a eulogy as a segue into politics is beyond me. It showed very bad taste for both President Carter and Rev. Lowery to use something that should be respected and held sacred to peddle their views on Bush's policies.
